WHAT IS POWER FLUSHING of RADIATORS ?

POWER FLUSHING is the process of individually cleaning the sludge, debris and blockages from your radiators and central heating pipework with chemicals at high pressure and temperature using a specialised Powerflush machine

Here are the stages in Power flush.

How to POWER FLUSH a CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEM :

  1. Locate Powerflushing machine close to supply of mains water and close to foul water waste drain
  2. Isolate mains water supply
  3. Isolate cold feed
  4. Fit temporary cap to expansion/vent pipe
  5. Set thermostatic radiator valves to maximum
  6. Remove thermostatic valve heads
  7. Close by-pass
  8. Close auto by-pass (if present)
  9. Remove magnetic filter connect to pipework/isolation valves after removal of filter or connect to boiler tails
  10. Circulate SENTINEL X800 JETFLO system cleaner throughout system
  11. Turn on boiler, heat system to minimum 50°C
  12. Reverse flow regularly
  13. Isolate cylinder (if applicable)
  14. Open radiator 1
  15. Circulate system cleaner through radiator 1 only
  16. Reverse flow regularly
  17. Close radiator 1
  18. Open radiator 2
  19. Circulate system cleaner through radiator 2 only
  20. Repeat this process with all the remaining radiators on the system
  21. Dump radiators individually and in reverse order
  22. Dump until water runs clear
  23. Repeat steps on all radiators on the system

    TEST FOR CONTAMINANTS:

  24. Use a turbidity tube to ensure that no particulate or solid contaminants still present
  25. Insert SENTINEL X100 corrosion and Central Heating inhibitor to protect system to prevent sludge and limescale buildup in central heating system. Compliant with: BS7593 and Building Regulations Part L
  26. Repressurise boiler and system
  27. Use an Infrared Camera to demonstrate
even heating of radiators with cold spots and sludge removed
  28. Issue Power Flushing Certificate
